Coaching is one of the most powerful tools for
helping people to change. It enhances buy in, helps to consolidate learning and
can provide higher levels of motivation and resulting action for
individuals.
Coaching can be used to help with specific areas like
Presentation Skills, right through to coaching for life where the individual is
helped to establish what they are really looking to achieve in life and what
road to take to get there.
Unfortunately in most cases coaching is
underutilised in the work place, as either we do not have access
to a coach or, where we do, often the respect or trust is
missing.

differing skills we are able to match the right coach to individual styles.
As a further service we are also able to train people to be coaches thus
taking the benefits of coaching in-house.
Coaching for Life
What is Coaching for life?
This
is centred around the individual and helps them focus on getting direction and
balance in their lives.
What are the
benefits of Coaching for life?
To the
individual - Coaching for life can help to crystallise life goals and
what is needed to achieve them. It can also help to highlight life imbalances
and obstacles and therefore help the individual to start to remove them.
To the business - the better life work balance and enhanced
clarity of direction should result in higher levels of motivation and
productivity. Reduction in stress, illness and staff turnover are also other
potential benefits.
Method:- Initially face to face.
Regular face to face meetings would
be required initially to build up trust & understanding. In the longer term
the frequency of meetings can reduce and the telephone can provide an
alternative.
Duration : Ideally for life.
We would initially recommend a minimum of
4 sessions over four months lasting for a maximum 2 hours. Over the longer term
3 to 4 sessions a year would be sufficient.
Career Coaching
What is Career Coaching?
Career Coaching focuses
on an individual from a work perspective with the discussion based around what
needs to be done to improve results in work settings.
What are the benefits of Career Coaching?
To the
individual - Weaknesses can be reviewed and progress monitored.
To the business - This type of coaching should result in
improved performance and productivity. It can also focus on more specific areas
perhaps highlighted in appraisals etc.
Method:- Face to face and/ or on the telephone.
Regular face to face meetings would be required initially to build up trust
& understanding. In the longer term the frequency of meetings can reduce and
the telephone can provide an alternative.
Duration :
We would initially recommend a minimum of 4
sessions over eight months lasting for a maximum 2 hours. Over the longer term 2
to 3 sessions a year would be sufficient perhaps taking place after certain
milestones such as appraisals, promotions etc.
Skills Coaching
What is Skills Coaching?
Skills Coaching is an
excellent tool for ensuring that skills & techniques/ actions are put into
practice and not just forgotten following the end of training. It can also be
used as an alternative to training courses to provide solutions totally tailored
to the individual.
What are the benefits of Skills
Coaching?
To the individual - provides a support &
challenge structure to ensure learning is put into action and productivity
increases.
To the business - Skills Coaching provides further
opportunity to ensure learning is consolidated and put into action with the
result that the behavioural change enhances business performance.
Method:-
Initially face to face with potential for
telephone coaching in later sessions.
Duration:
Normally 1-5 sessions from 30-60 minutes per
session.
Case History - Coaching for Life
Background
Our client was close to
losing his job, had no savings, had become morbidly obese, was almost an
alcoholic, did not own his own home and could not drive. Although he knew he had
to do something he could not break the downward spiral which he found himself
in.
How we helped
Following a number of intensive sessions we were able to help
our client chart a course of change. This included short, medium & long term
goals with appropriate milestones along the way.
The results
Within 6 months
- He found himself a new job, joined the gym, lost 4 stones and stopped
drinking.
Within 1 year - Passed his driving test, bought
himself a car and started a long term relationship
Within 3 years
- Bought his own home.
